Waterleak Diagnosis
1. Water Entering Near Mirror Close-Out
(See Figure 1).
Condition may be due to a gap where mirror seal meets front door cap.
Diagnosis
1. Remove door upper front panel.
2. Water test with garden hose and inspect.
Correction
1. Loosen nuts and adjust to seal.
2. Adjust door inward if door is outward of seal edge.
3. Thumb grade sealer where it meets the glass front channel assembly seal.
2. Water/Moisture On Floor Near RH/LH Door
(See Figure 2).
Condition may be due to
1. Water traveling in through holes in door inner panel.
2. Water deflector misplaced or missing.
3. Water traveling in through manual window regulator spindle.
Correction
1. Seal holes in door inner panel.
2. Remove door trim panel to inspect and correct as necessary.
3. Seal window regulator crank.
3. Front Floor Or Seat Wet (See Figure 3). This may be extremely difficult to diagnose as the water could run down to the floor by way of the garnish moldings. Check inside of the garnish moldings for moisture.
Condition may be due to
1. Header seal to header not sealed.
2. Void in seal to header in ditch (where metal pieces come together).
3. Piping not trimmed enough causing a trough in the header seal. (This is the Joint sewn in the vinyl material at the No. 1 bow).
Correction
1. Use butyl tape to seal header to header seal.
2. Use thumb grade sealer to level header seal and seal void.
3. Trim vinyl material at the staples on the under side of the No. 1 bow.
4. Rear Floor Wet Or Moldy Smell From Under Rear Seat
(See Figure 4).
Condition may be due to water traveling around front of quarter window inner weatherstrip.
Correction
1. Trim quarter window inner weatherstrip.
