ASSEMBLE
Ensure all fasteners are securely seated before applying torque. Failure to do so may result in component damage or malfunctioning of steering column.
1. Install shroud to jacket, lock plate to steering column jacket assembly, then the dimmer switch rod to loop in column housing support assembly.
2. Install support assembly and mounting screws. Torque mounting screws to 77 lb in
3. Install actuator assembly to groove in housing support assembly, then the steering shaft assembly to jacket assembly. Lubricate with lithium grease.
4. Install tilt lever, then the column housing assembly to column.
5. Position column housing and align switch actuator rack with pin on end of ignition switch actuator rack.
6. Pull back on tilt lever, pushing column housing onto column housing support assembly.
7. Release tilt lever to lock shoes onto dowel pins, then remove tilt lever.
8. Install pivot pins, lubricate with lithium grease, then press pin until firmly seated, two places.
9. Install steering column jacket bushing. Lubricate outer surface with lithium grease. Bushing locator lug must seat in jacket notch.
10. Adjust ignition switch assembly by moving switch slider to extreme left position, then one detent to right, Off-Lock position. When using a new ignition switch, the switch will be pinned in Off-Lock position. Remove plastic pin after switch is assembled to column.
11. Install ignition switch and mounting stud, then torque stud to 35 lb in
12. Install ignition switch inhibitor to ignition switch, then the two pan head screws. Torque screws to 30 lb in
13. Install dimmer switch assembly to rod, then the screw and nut and tighten finger tight.
14. Adjust dimmer switch by placing a 3/32 inch drill bit in hole on switch to limit travel, position switch on column and push against dimmer switch rod to remove all lash, then remove drill bit. Torque screw and nut to 35 lb in
