Section 8C - Additional Information on Instrument Panel Cluster Replacement for Cars without Vehicle Theft Deterrent Option

Models:
1995 Chevrolet Cavalier
1995 Pontiac Sunfire
with ONLY 4-speed Automatic Transaxle and 2.3L Engine (VIN D - RPO LD2)

To replace ANY Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) in the 1995 "J" car, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) may need to go through a complete "Learn" procedure. This includes vehicles that are not equipped with the Vehicle Theft Deterrent option.

The "Learn" procedure (for any Instrument Panel Cluster) is described in Section 9D (Vehicle Theft Deterrent) on page 14. This section is in the 1995 Cavalier/Sunfire Update. Please also make note of this in both Sections 8C1 and 8C2 of the Service Manual.
