Wiper Arm - Removal Procedure

Section 8E-11 - Wiper Arm Removal Procedure
MODELS:
1995 Chevrolet Cavalier
1995 Pontiac Sunfire
The following service procedure is to be included In Section 8E-11 of the Service Manual. This procedure should be followed using Kent-Moore tool J-414O1 for wiper arm removal:
Driver Side (LH) Wiper Arm Removal (Figure 1)
1. Place wipers in midwipe position and disconnect washer hose at base of arm.
2. Remove cover and retaining nut from wiper arm assembly.
3. After removing quick release pin and bracket from tool (J-41401), place main body of tool over wiper arm so that the tool's forcing screw is seated on the drive shaft of the wiper arm assembly.
Notice:
It may be necessary to place a shop rag between the windshield and the end of the tool to prevent any damage to the windshield.
4. Place bracket (J-41401-4) under wiper arm so that notched side of bracket is toward the drive shaft.
5. Attach bracket to main body of tool using the quick release pin through UPPER HOLE of tool.
6. Tighten forcing screw to remove arm.
Passenger Side (RH) Wiper Arm Removal (Figure 2)
Important:
Bracket is not required when removing passenger side arm.
1. Place wipers in midwipe position and disconnect washer hose at base of arm.
2. Remove cover and retaining nut from wiper arm assembly.
3. After removing quick release pin and bracket from tool, place main body of tool over wiper arm so that the tool's forcing screw is seated on the drive shaft of the wiper arm assembly.
Notice:
It may be necessary to place a shop rag between the windshield and the end of the tool to prevent any damage to the windshield.
4. Slide quick release pin through LOWER HOLE of tool and under wiper arm.
5. Tighten forcing screw to remove arm.
