Courtesy Lamps

Courtesy Lamps Description and Operation

The courtesy lamps come on when any door is opened, when the interior lamp control is in the ON position, or when activated by unlocking the doors using the key fob (illuminated entry). The courtesy lamps will also light for approximately 25 seconds and fade out when the key is removed from the ignition switch with all doors are closed.

Voltage is applied at all times through the RH Rear Power Distribution Center Fuse Block # 1 PWR DR LK fuse, CKT 1540, the Body Control Module (MALL) and CKT 1732 to the courtesy lamps. When the MALL module receives a signal from a door being opened, the interior lamp control being turned ON, or the doors being unlocked using the key fob, it provides a ground through CKT 156 for the courtesy lamps, the courtesy lamps then light.

When the courtesy lamps are activated by opening and closing a door, the courtesy lamps will remain on for approximately 25 seconds, the lamps will immediately begin to fade out. If a door is left open, the lamps will automatically turn off after 10 minutes. When the courtesy lamps are activated by the interior lamp control, the lamps will remain on as long as the interior lamp switch is in the ON position. When the courtesy lamps are activated by unlocking the doors using the key fob, the lamps will remain on for approximately 40 seconds. If the doors are locked using the key fob within 40 seconds, the lamps will immediately begin to fade out.
