Hatch Release
Automatic TransmissionNote - On later model 1996 vehicles it is necessary to press the Hatch Release button on the Remote Control Door Lock Transmitter twice to open the Hatch.
When the Hatch Release Button is pressed, the Body Control Module (B CM) applies voltage to the coil of the Hatch Release Relay. If the Automatic Transmission is in "Park" or "Neutral", the Hatch Release Relay is energized and applies battery voltage to the Hatch Release Actuator, releasing the Hatch.
Manual Transmission

When the Hatch Release Button is pressed, the Body Control Module (BCM) applies voltage to the coil of the Hatch Release Relay. The Park Brake Switch is closed with the Park Brake engaged, providing ground to the coil. The Hatch Release Relay is energized and applies battery voltage to the Hatch Release Actuator, releasing the Hatch.
