Interior Lamps
BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)The Body Control Module (BCM) illuminates and extinguishes Interior Lamps based on inputs it receives from the following switches: LH and RH Door Jamb Switches, Rear Compartment Lid Ajar Indication Switch, Console and I/P Compartment Switches, Inside Rearview Mirror Courtesy/Reading Lamp Switches, and I/P Dimmer Switch.
DOME LAMP (COUPE), LEFT AND RIGHT COURTESY LAMPS AND REAR COMPARTMENT LAMP (CONVERTIBLE), AND INSIDE REVIEW MIRROR COURTESY/READING LAMPS
Voltage from the BCM is applied to Dome Lamp (Coupe), Left and Right Courtesy Lamps and Rear Compartment Lamp (Convertible), and Inside Rearview Mirror Courtesy/Reading Lamps through CKT 149. Whenever the hatch or either side door is opened or the I/P Dimmer Switch is turned to "RUN," ground is provided by the BCM through CKT 156 illuminating the lamps.
The Inside Rearview Mirror also has separate switches which provide ground through CKT 750 to operate Courtesy/Reading Lamps manually.
I/P COMPARTMENT AND CONSOLE
COMPARTMENT LAMPS
Voltage from the BCM is applied to I/P Compartment and Console Compartment Lamps through CKT 149. When either Compartment Door is opened, the Compartment Lamp switch closes providing ground through CKT 650.
DELAYED ILLUMINATION
The BCM sustains illumination of Interior Lamps after both doors and hatch are closed for approximately 25 seconds, gradually dimming the lamps until they are off. Turning vehicle ignition to "RUN" or "START" or locking the doors will cancel this process, extinguishing Courtesy Lamps. Delayed illumination may be disabled as described in Feature Customization, Refer to Antitheft and Alarm Systems. Antitheft and Alarm Systems
EXIT LIGHTING
The BCM provides an exit lighting feature, which illuminates Courtesy Lamps for approximately 5 seconds when key is removed from the Ignition Switch. Reinserting key or locking vehicle doors will cancel this process, extinguishing Courtesy Lamps. Exit lighting may be disabled as described in Feature Customization, Refer to Antitheft and Alarm Systems
INADVERTENT POWER CONTROL
The BCM extinguishes interior lamps that are left "ON" inadvertently to conserve battery power. With ignition "OFF," if any interior lamp is left on for approximately 10 minutes, the BCM will deactivate CKT 149, extinguishing the lamp. If any change is sensed by the BCM at any of the interior lamp switch inputs (Door Jamb, Rear Compartment Lid, Courtesy/Reading Lamps, I/P Dimmer Switch) or any remote functions are used during deactivation, the system is reactivated for another 10 minute period. On some vehicles, this feature is defeated with the ignition in the "ACCY" position and the Courtesy Lamps can be operated for periods longer than 10 minutes.
ILLUMINATED ENTRY
With Ignition Switch "OFF," the BCM illuminates Interior Lamps for approximately 40 seconds when doors are unlocked or hatch is released using the Remote Control Door Lock Transmitter. Turning vehicle ignition to "RUN" or START" will cancel this process, extinguishing Courtesy Lamps.
