Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

CAUTION: Care must be used when handling the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Damage to the ECT sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Drain coolant system.
2. Negative (-) battery cable.
3. ECT sensor electrical connector.
4. ECT sensor from thermostat housing.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. ECT sensor to thermostat housing. Tighten sensor to 10 to 20 Nm (7.5 to 14 lb ft).
2. ECT sensor electrical connector.
3. Negative (-) battery cable. Tighten Negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal.
4. Replenish coolant system to proper level.
