Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) (A/T Only):

The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) consists of a magnetic core with a magnet and coil. It is mounted on the transmission case with a specified air gap between the core end and the countershaft gear tooth. While the countershaft rotates, magnetic flux is cut by a gear tooth, thus a pulse is generated in the sensor coil according to vehicle speed. The PCM uses the VSS signal as one of the signals to control various devices.
