1ST - Reverse Brake Assembly

Measure
- 1st-reverse brake clearance between the No. 2 inner one-way clutch race snap ring and the 1st-reverse brake flange using a feeler gage. If clearance is greater than 0.58 to 1.92 mm (0.023 to 0.075-inch), replace the 1st-reverse discs and plates.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

^ Tool Required:
- J 23327 Clutch Spring Compressor





1. No. 2 inner one-way clutch race snap ring. Use caution not to damage the inside of the transaxle case.





2. 1st-reverse brake discs and plates.
3. 1st-reverse brake damper plate.

Inspect
- Discs and plates for discoloration or abnormal wear.

4. Install a J 23327 on the 1st-reverse brake return spring assembly inside the transaxle case and tighten until the return spring assembly snap ring can be removed.





5. Return spring assembly snap ring.





6. Return spring assembly.





7. 1st-reverse brake piston by slowly applying low pressure compressed air into the fluid passage.
