G. High Speed and Low Speed Gearshift Shafts
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. One roll pin and low speed gearshift fork from low speed gear shift shaft using a standard drift punch and hammer.
2. One roll pin and low speed gearshift yoke from low speed gear shift shaft using a standard drift punch and hammer.
3. One roll pin and high speed gearshift fork from high speed gear shift shaft using a standard drift punch and hammer.
4. One roll pin and high speed gearshift yoke from high speed gear shift shaft using a standard drift punch and hammer.
Clean
- All components thoroughly with clean solvent and dry.
Inspect
- High and low speed gearshift shafts for flat spots, excessive wear or damage. Replace as necessary. Contact surfaces of the high and low speed gearshift forks for excessive wear, cracks or other damage. Replace as necessary.
Measure
- High speed and low speed gearshift fork-to-synchronizer sleeve clearance using a feeler gage. Match each shift fork to its synchronizer sleeve and measure clearance. If gearshift fork-to-synchronizer sleeve clearance is more than 1.0 mm (0.039 inch), replace the gearshift fork and synchronizer sleeve.
INSTALL OR CONNECT

- J 36850 Transjel(tm) Transmission Assembly Lubricant
1. Apply a light coat of J 36850 to all parts prior to assembly.
2. High speed gearshift yoke onto the high speed gearshift shaft; secure with one roll pin.
3. High speed gearshift fork onto high speed gearshift shaft; secure with one roll pin.
4. Low speed gearshift yoke onto low speed gearshift shaft; secure with one roll pin.
5. Low speed gearshift fork from low speed gearshift shaft; secure with one roll pin.
