Heated Glass Element: Description and Operation
With the Ignition Switch in "ON", voltage is applied through the DEF Fuse to the Rear Defogger Switch.Whenever the Rear Defogger Switch is pressed to the ON position, system voltage is applied through the closed contacts of the switch to the Rear Defogger Switch Indicator, the Rear Defogger Indicator in the Instrument Panel Cluster Assembly, and to the Rear Defogger Grid. Both Indicators are permanently grounded at G203 and the Rear Defogger grid is permanently grounded at G300 (4-Door)/G402 (2-Door). Because the Rear Defogger Grid is a resistive element, it begins to heat as soon as voltage is applied. Both Indicators will also light when voltage is applied.
The Rear Defogger Switch does not incorporate an integral timing circuit. Therefore, the switch must be pressed to the OFF position to terminate Rear Defogger operation.
