Sunroof / Moonroof: Description and Operation

The Sunroof Switch controls the position of the Sunroof. The Sunroof panel may be slid open or closed, or the rear of the panel may be tilted up into a vent position.

When the Sunroof Switch is moved to "OPEN/VENT" position, power is sent through the Vent Limit Switch to the Sunroof Motor. When the Sunroof Panel reaches vent position, the Vent Limit Switch opens and cuts power to the Sunroof Motor. To continue operation to the sliding mode, the driver must release the Sunroof Switch. When the switch is pressed again and released, the Sunroof Control Module will go into express mode. The Sunroof Panel will open to full position or until the Sunroof Switch is pressed again. When the "CLOSE" Switch is pressed, the Sunroof Panel, will close until the Sunroof Switch is released or fully closed position is achieved.

The Sunroof will automatically stop at the fully open or closed position when approaching from either the vent or sliding position. The fully open or closed position is sensed by the Soft Stop Limit Switch, which remains in the open position, except when the Sunroof is fully open or fully closed.
