Fluid Checking Procedure
NOTE: Start engine and drive vehicle approximately 15 miles or until the transaxle reaches operating temperature of 180-200° F.1. Allow engine to run at idle speed for three to five minutes with accessories off.
2. Apply brake and move shift lever through all gear ranges, pausing three seconds in each range.
3. Place shift lever in the Park position.
4. Raise and support vehicle.
5. Place oil container under check plug.
6. Check that oil level is at bottom of oil check hole. Because transaxle operates over a range of fluid levels, fluid may or may not drain out of screw hole when screw is removed.
7. If fluid drains through the screw hole, the transaxle may have been overfilled. When fluid stops draining, fluid level is correct and check plug may be installed.
8. If fluid does not drain through screw hole, transaxle fluid level may have been low. Add fluid at vent cap location in half liter (1 pint) increments until oil level is at the bottom of oil check hole.
9. Install oil check plug and tighten to specifications.
10. Lower vehicle.
