Accelerator Control Cable Replacement

Throttle Cable Service:






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Left sound insulator.
2. Release cable retainer from lever assembly.
3. Depress cable tangs and push forward toward engine compartment.
4. Air intake duct.
5. Screw to accelerator control splash shield.
6. Shield.
7. Cruise control cable if equipped.
8. Depress tangs on cable through cable bracket.
9. Cable from cam.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Route cable through cable bracket.
2. Press cable upward through bracket making sure tangs expand and properly seat.
3. Cruise control cable.
4. Accelerator control splash shield.
5. Screws to shield.

Tighten
Screws to 25 Nm (17 lb. ft.).

6. Air intake duct.
7. Route cable through cowl.
8. Slip accelerator cable through slot in rod and then install retainer in rod, being sure it is seated.

Inspect
^ Check for correct opening and closing positions by operating accelerator pedal. Make sure that the throttle valve reaches wide-open throttle position. If it does not, inspect for damaged or bent brackets, levers, or other components; or, for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
^ Flexible components (hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) must not be routed within 50 mm (2.0 in.) of moving parts of accelerator linkage outboard of support unless routing is positively controlled.

9. Left sound insulator.
