Rattle and/or Squeak from Left and/or Right Hand No. 1 Bow in Convertible Top (Replace Bushings)

Condition
Some owners may comment on a rattle and/or a squeak coming from the left and/or right hand No. 1 bow in the convertible top.
Cause
Production bushing is brass and is causing a rattle or squeak from the No. 1 bow.
Correction
This condition can be corrected by replacing the production bushings that are brass with the new bushings which are black in color using the following procedure.
Caution:
When the convertible top is not fully open or closed, use care when working around convertible top linkage as the convertible top may drift down (open) and personal Injury may result.
Important:
Detachment of the convertible top from the No. 1 bow is not necessary.

1. Close the convertible top halfway, and turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.
2. Move the convertible top and stay pad material out of the way to expose the top side of the No. 1 bow.
3. Carefully pry out the No. 1 bow insert using a small flat-bladed tool.
4. Remove and discard the two attaching bolts and wave washers securing the No. 1 bow to the front rail.
5. Remove and discard all four brass bushings.
6. Clean all debris from the joint area.
7. Install new bushings (black).
8. Install new wave washers.
9. Install two new bolts.
Tighten
Tighten bolt to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).
10. Remove any loose adhesive from the No. 1 bow and the bow insert.
11. Apply adhesive, 3M # 08008 or equivalent, to the bow insert and install.
