Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Defect Involved

General Motors has decided that certain 1995 "J" and "N" model vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment". These vehicles may exhibit a condition in which the front and/or rear hazard warning lamps (four-way flashers) do not flash when the hazard switch is activated.

Interior telltale lamps will still flash if the rear hazard lamps are inoperative but front hazard lamps are operative. The interior telltale lamps will not flash if the front hazard lamps are inoperative.

To correct this condition and in order to comply with FMVSS 108, vehicle owners or dealers will inspect for proper function of the hazard warning lamps. If necessary, dealers will replace the hazard lamp switch.
