Thermo Element Adjustment

^ Tools Required:
- J 29023 Thermo Element Height Gage





1. Lay J29023 on its side between the thermo element (411) and the case cover (401). Check the height of the thermo element spring pin (409) in the case cover.

Specification
Confirm that the pin height is 5.4 mm (0.213 in).

2. Visually inspect the thermo element (412) for damage.






Important: Do not disassemble the thermo element if the pin is the correct height and the visual inspection is satisfactory.

Important: Place a small piece of wood between the side cutters and the case cover in order to prevent damage.

3. Use side cutters under the thermo element spring pin (409) in order to pry the pin loose. Remove the pin and element from the case cover (401).





4. Visually inspect the following thermo element components for damage:
- The spring pins (409)
- The pin (410)
- The plate (411)
- The thermo element (412)





5. Using J29023 held flush against the thermo element pin (410), inspect the height of the pin.





6. If the pin height is too high, use a hammer in order to set the height of the thermo element pin (410).





Important: Place a small piece of wood between the side cutters and the case cover in order to prevent damage.

7. If the thermo element pin (410) is setting too low in the case cover (401), use side cutters under the pin in order to pry the pin up.





8. Install the following parts:
- The thermo element plate (411)
- The thermo element (412)
- Both of the thermo element spring pins (409)
9. Lay J 29023 on its side between the thermo element (411) and the case cover (401) so that you can check the height of the thermo element spring pin (409).
10. Use a hammer in order to set the height of the thermo element spring pin (409). Set the height of the pin to 5.4 mm (0.213 in).
