Possible Points of Oil Leaks
1. Transaxle oil pan or valve body cover or case cover:
- Attaching bolts not correctly tightened.
- Improperly installed or damaged.
- Oil pan or valve body cover mounting face not flat.
2. Case leak:
- Filler tube "multi-lip seal" damaged or missing.
- Filler-pipe bracket improperly located.
- TV cable seal missing, damaged or improperly installed.
- Speed sensor housing and O-rings damaged or missing.
- Vehicle speed sensor seal damaged.
- Manual shaft seal damaged.
- Transaxle cooler connector fittings loose or damaged.
- Axle oil seals worn or damaged.
- Parking lock actuator guide O-ring damaged.
- Governor pressure pipe plug loose. Line pressure pipe plug loose. Case to case cover gasket damaged. Porous casting.
- Case to extension case gasket damaged.
- Servo cover O-ring damaged.
3 Leak at converter end:
- Converter seal damaged.
- Seal lip cut (Check converter hub for damage).
- Bushing moved forward and damaged.
- Garter spring missing from seal.
- Converter leak in weld area (Replace torque converter).
- Porous casting (Case, pump or drive sprocket support).
4. Oil comes out vent pipe or fill tube:
- Over-filled.
- Water or coolant in oil (oil will appear milky).
- Case porous.
- Incorrect oil level indicator.
- Plugged vent.
- Drain back holes plugged.
- Channel plate to case gasket out of position.
