Residual Air Check

^ Tools Required:
- J 221218 Pressure Gage
- J 2Z124-91 Pressure Gage Adapter
- Or Equivalents

The air dryer has a valve arrangement that maintains minimum air pressure of 48 to 97 kPa (7 to 14 psi) in the shocks to improve ride characteristics under light load conditions. To test this function, perform the following procedure:
1. Turn ignition switch to the "ON" position.
2. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
3. Install J 22124-B in place of the pressure limiter valve between the air dryer and air tube going to the rear shocks.
4. Disconnect height sensor lint; from sensor arm and move arm upward to inflate shocks or use Electronic Level Control (ELC) Tester J 34825.
5. Move sensor arm down to deflate shocks or use J 34825, and then reconnect sensor link.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Read pressure on J 02124-13.
8. Pressure gage should read 48 to 97 kPa (7 to 14 psi) after system is deflated.
9. If pressure is not within specification, replace air dryer.
