Component Tests and General Diagnostics

TOOL REQUIRED
^ J 24460-01 Universal Cooling System and Cap Pressure Tester
^ J 24460-92 Cooling System Tester Adapter

CAUTION: Pressures above 138 kPa (20 psi) should not be used when testing the cooling system. Pressures over 138 kPa (20 psi) will damage the radiator.

1. Inspect the connections for leaks. Repair as required.
2. Remove the surge tank cap.





3. Attach Cooling System Tester Adapter and Universal Cooling System and Cap Pressure Tester to the surge tank.
^ Follow the instructions supplied with Universal Cooling System and Cap Pressure Tester.
4. Build up pressure to no more than 138 kPa (20 psi).
5. The system should hold the pressure for about two minutes.
^ If a measurable amount of pressure drops in less than two minutes, check for a leak.
^ Mark the leaking area. Remove and replace the radiator if necessary.
