The IPC, in addition to being controller of the UART Data Line, also has hardwired inputs. Some of these inputs are used as display information for the cluster gages and telltales while other inputs are converted into serial data and transmitted on the UART Data Line.

The TECH 2 can also list an IPC data list called the "DATA LIST" on the TECH 2 ( Refer to TABLE #1). This list shows the status of the hardwired connections made to the IPC and can be very useful in diagnosis. This table is broken into display pairs as the TECH 2 Scan Tool lists two function descriptions per screen.
