ETR AM/FM Stereo/Cassette Tape Player (UL0)
UL0 Radio:
VOLUME KNOB
This knob turns the radio assembly on and off. Rotate knob to control volume.
"SCV" (SPEED-COMPENSATED VOLUME)
Rotate the ring behind the volume knob to automatically compensate for increase in road noise levels at higher speeds. it causes the volume to increase slowly as speed increases. When working properly, the subtle changes in volume should not be noticeable to the driver. "SCV" can be turned off for normal driving.
"AM/FM"
Press "AM/FM" to receive "AM," "FM1" or "FM2." The lighted display shows the selection
TUNE KNOB
Push the "TUNE" knob to release it. Rotate the knob to choose desired radio stations. Push the knob back in to store it after tuning.
"RECALL",
Press "RECALL" to recall the station being played or the clock display. Press "RECALL" also to display the time when the ignition is off. Pressing and holding "RECALL" for 5 seconds or more allows the user to operate a remote compact disc cartridge through the tape player.
"AUTO TONE"
Press "ALTO TONE" to choose preset treble and bass equalization settings designed for "ROCK," "NEWS," "POP," "JAZZ" and "CLASSICAL." Each time "ALTO TONE" is pressed, another setting will appear on the display. When "MAN" (manual) appears, control of the tone will be back to the treble and bass knobs.
"SEEK"
Press "SEEK" right or left "SEEK" and the radio will tune to the next higher or lower station and will stay there.
"PSCAN"
Press "PSCAN" to hear each of the preset stations for a few seconds. To stop at a chosen station, press "PSCAN" again.
CLOCK
To set the clock display on the radio assembly:
1. Press and hold "HR" (hour) until the correct hour appears.
2. Press and hold "MIN" (minute) until the correct minute appears.
There will be a two-second delay before the clock goes into the time-set mode.
PUSH BUTTONS
To preset six AM stations, six FM1 stations and six FM2 stations:
1. Tune in desired station.
2. Choose a preset "AUTO TONE".
3. Press and hold one of the six push buttons for 5 seconds. The station will fade out then return when set. The preset station will return whenever that button is pressed. Repeat these steps for each push button.
SPEAKER ADJUSTMENT
Balance Knob: Push "BAL" knob to release it. Turn the knob to move the sound between the right and left speakers. Push the knob back in to store it when not adjusting.
Fade Knob: Push "FADE" knob to release it. Turn the knob to move the sound between the front and rear speakers. Push the knob back in to store it when not adjusting.
BASS AND TREBLE CONTROLS
Push the "TREB" knob to release it. Rotate the knob to the right to increase treble and to the left to decrease treble. Push the knob back in to store it when not adjusting.
Push the "BASS" knob to release it. Rotate the knob to the right to increase bass and to the left to decrease bass.
If a station is weak and noisy, rotate the "TREB" knob to the left to reduce the noise.
CASSETTE TAPE PLAYER
The tape player is built to work best with tapes that are 30 minutes long on each side. Tapes longer than that are so thin they may not work well in this player.
To play a tape, the ignition lock cylinder must be in the "ACCESSORY" or "RUN" position and the receiver/tape player must be turned on. Insert the cassette squarely through the door, exposed tape side of the cassette first. If you hear nothing or hear just garbled sound, it may not be in squarely. Press "EJECT" to remove the tape and start over. When the tape is fully inserted, the radio will turn off and the tape will begin playing.
Once the tape is playing, use "VOL," "BAL," "FADE," "TREB," "BASS" and "AUTO TONE" just as for the radio. The arrows show which side of the tape is playing.
To rapidly advance the tape, press "FWD" (forward). Press "FWD" again to stop advancing. The radio will play during this operation.
To rapidly reverse the tape, press 'REV" (reverse). Press "REV" again to stop the tape reversing. The radio will play during this operation.
To play the next selection, press "NEXT or "SEEK right" (instead of waiting until the current selection is finished). For "NEXT" to work properly, the tape must have at least 3 seconds of silence between each selection. The radio will not play during this operation.
To replay the current selection, press "PREV" or left SEEK." For "PREV" to work properly, the tape must have at least 3 seconds of silence between each selection. The radio will not play during this operation.
To switch from one side of the tape to the other, press the "PROG" (program) knob.
To reduce tape noise, press the "Dolby�" button. This symbol will appear in the display.
To stop the tape player, do any of the following:
^ Turn the power off or turn the ignition key off. The cassette stays in the player and will resume playing at the point where it stopped
^ Press "AM/FM" to stop playing the cassette and switch to radio. (To switch back to the tape, press "TAPE AUX.")
^ Press "EJECT" to remove the cassette and switch to radio. "EJECT" will work with the ignition on or off.
