This portion of the tape can be used to diagnose speaker and grille rattles. The two test tones can be used for this purpose. The first of the two tones is used for two variable frequency tones played back to back. The second tone is also a variable frequency tone, but frequency' change is at a much slower rate. This can be used to repair speaker rattle or buzz. If the problem has already been isolated by the customer, the fade and balance controls can be played in the specific problem area.

If the customer complains of a distorted or strange sound coming from the speaker during certain sections of music, the technician can use this portion to verify and repair some problems associated with this type of complaint.
