Tape Clean Indicator System

A Tape clean system is used to indicate the possible need for routine maintenance on the tape player. The CLEAN status on the display ("Cln") will be displayed when all of the following criteria are met:
^ Total elapsed time since last player maintenance has exceeded 50 hours.
^ Tape insertion or initiation of tape play.
^ Radio power on and ignition OIL

The "CLN" indication will be displayed for 5 seconds during which the tape icon will flash. Tune of Day (TOD) and normal tape icon operation will return after the 5 seconds have elapsed. No tape or radio operations will be affected during the "Cln" display.

Activation of any control except for Volume will cancel the display of "Cln" and the next selected operation and appropriate display will be activated.

IMPORTANT If the clean indication has been initiated during the radio monitor mode, the display will indicate "an" upon the next play initiation, tape insertion or ignition cycle.

To clear the display status of this feature as well as resetting the elapsed time, the radio "EJECT" button must be pressed for 5 seconds. At the end of this time the display will indicate "-" for 3 seconds followed by the default display. Using "EJECT" to clear the display status will override all current tape operating modes and regardless of the present state, will eject the tape if loaded.
