Removal

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. See Powertrain Management.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the air cleaner inlet duct.
4. Remove the accelerator cable splash shield.
5. Remove the following cables:
^ The accelerator
^ The cruise control
^ The TV control
6. Remove the vacuum hose harness from top of air inlet.
7. Disconnect the PCV and brake vacuum hoses at the upper intake manifold.





8. Remove the following electrical connectors:
^ The manifold absolute pressure
^ The throttle position sensor
^ The idle air control





9. Remove the two bolts and one nut attaching the accelerator bracket.





10. Remove the manifold absolute pressure sensor.
11. Remove the upper intake manifold.
12. Remove the fuel feed.
13. Return the quick-connect fittings.
14. Remove the one bolt holding the intake brace to the power steering pump brace.
15. Remove the fuel inlet pipe retainers.
16. Remove the fill tube attaching nut.





17. Remove the lower intake manifold attaching nuts.
18. Remove the upper studs on the lower intake manifold.
19. Remove the lower intake manifold from the engine.
20. Clean the mating surfaces on the intake manifold and the cylinder head.
21. Clean excessive carbon deposits from the EGR passage.
22. Inspect the manifold for cracks, broken flanges, and gasket surface damage.
