Upper Intake Manifold

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. See Powertrain Management.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the air cleaner inlet duct.
4. Disconnect the vacuum lines as necessary.
5. Remove the accelerator cable splash shield.





6. Remove the accelerator bracket.
7. Remove the following cables:
^ The accelerator
^ The cruise control
^ The transmission control
8. Remove the vacuum hose harness from the top of the air inlet.
9. Remove the PCV and the brake vacuum hoses at the upper intake manifold.
10. Disconnect the following connectors.
^ The manifold absolute pressure
^ The throttle position sensor
^ The idle air control





11. Remove the manifold absolute pressure sensor.





12. Remove the upper intake manifold assembly bolts.
13. Remove the upper intake manifold assembly.
14. Inspect the manifold for cracks and gasket surface damage.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the upper intake manifold assembly.





2. Install the upper intake manifold assembly bolts. Tighten the bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the manifold absolute pressure sensor. Tighten the sensor bolts to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.).
4. Install the two bolts and the nut attaching the accelerator cable bracket.
5. Install the following electrical connections:
The manifold absolute pressure sensor
The idle air control
The Throttle Position sensor
6. Connect the PCV and brake vacuum hoses to the upper intake manifold.
7. Install the vacuum hose harness to the top of the air inlet.
8. Connect the following cables:
^ The accelerator
^ The cruise control
^ The transmission control
9. Install the accelerator cable splash shield.
10. Install the accelerator cable splash shield bolts. Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 inch lbs.).
11. Install the air cleaner inlet duct.
12. Connect the negative battery cable.
