Camshaft and Bearings Clean and Inspect

^ Tools Required
- J 8001 Dial Indicator Set, or equivalent.






1. Measure the camshaft journals with a micrometer. If journals are more than 0.025 mm (0.0010 inches) out-of-round, replace the camshaft.





2. Measure camshaft runout using a dial indicator set.
a. Mount the camshaft in V-blocks between centers.
b. Use the dial indicator set in order to check the intermediate camshaft journal
3. If runout exceeds 0.065 mm (0.0026 inches), camshaft is excessively bent and should be replaced.
