Ignition Lock System
All automatic transaxle models use a park lock ignition system. This system uses a flexible cable actuator which is attached at one end to the shift control assembly and the other end to the column housing assembly. Within the housing assembly, an actuator engages on the park lock cable slider when the shift lever is in any gear other than "PARK" and does not allow the lock cylinder to move to the "LOCK" position. When the shift lever is returned to "PARK," the actuator disengages from the cable slider and allows the lock cylinder to move to the "LOCK" position. With the shift lever in "PARK" and the lock cylinder in "LOCK", the actuator in the column housing prevents the shift lever from being "Pulled Out Of Park".A push button Lock Housing Assembly is used with the manual transaxle. A clutch start switch is used so that the clutch pedal must be depressed before the engine will crank.
