Ignition Lock Cylinder - Lost Key and/or Key Code Unavailable
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Disable Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system.
2. Lower left insulator panel (3) screws.
3. Upper and lower steering column covers.
4. Tilt lever.
5. Defroster grille (snap out).
6. Both I.P. end trim covers (2 screws,).
7. I.P. valance (1 screw).
8. I.P. center trim panel (2 screws).
9. I.P. compartment trim piece (2 screws and 1 lamp fixture).
10. I.P. trim pad (15 screws).
11. I.P. cluster assembly (2 screws).
12. Steering column from vehicle.
13. Drill the back of the lock cylinder housing assembly using a 9/32 in drill as shown in illustration.
14. If necessary, insert tool J 41253 into hole to engage lock retainer spring.
15. Twist tool to remove retainer spring.
16. Hold Steering Column vertical and tap on housing assembly to dislodge lock retainer and clear metal shavings.
17. If necessary use needle nose pliers to remove retainer from housing assembly.
18. Clean all debris and metal shavings from drilled hole and inside housing assembly.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Code new lock cylinder.
2. New lock cylinder into Steering Column.
- Install key into lock cylinder.
- Ensure key is in run position.
- Line up locking tab with slot in housing assembly and push into position.
3. Steering column to vehicle.
4. I.P. cluster assembly (2 screws).
5. I.P. trim pad (15 screws).
6. I.P. compartment trim piece (2 screws and 1 lamp fixture).
7. I.P. center trim panel (2 screws).
8. I.P. valance (1 screw).
9. Both I.P. end trim covers (2 screws).
10. Defroster grille (snap out).
11. Upper and lower steering column trim cover.
12. Tilt lever.
13. Enable SIR system.
14. Lower left insulator panel (3) screws.
