Section 8C1 - Revised Diagnostic Chart # 7 and Various Other Changes

This bulletin is being issued to revise the diagnostic Chart # 7 (Air Conditioning Does Not Operate) found in Section 6C1 of the appropriate 1996 J/N Service Manuals.





Please replace Chart # 7 with the revised chart.

Also, the following changes should be made to various other sections in both the 1996 and 1997 Service Manuals as indicated below:

J-Car

Step 3 - Checking Compressor Clutch

Engagement - In the left column of boxes, fifth box down, right branch, second box down reads: "Repair electrical circuit to the compressor clutch."

Change to read: "Repair electrical circuit to the compressor clutch. Refer to Engine Controls, Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Microprocessor and HVAC: Compressor Controls, Cell 64 in Electrical Diagnosis."

Under "Circuit Description", the last bullet in the list reads: "There is no A/C request signal to the PCM. Refer to Section 1B for more information on the A/C refrigerant systems."

Change to read: "Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning, Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Microprocessor and HVAC: Compressor Controls, Cell 64 in Electrical Diagnosis for more information on the A/C refrigerant systems."

A/C Compressor Clutch Control Circuit Diagnosis Table, Step 16, part 2 reads: "Probe the A/C selector switch input circuit to the IPC (refer to Section 8A-64)."

Change to read: "Probe the A/C selector switch input circuit to the IPC. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning, Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Microprocessor and HVAC: Compressor Controls, Cell 64 in Electrical Diagnosis for more information on the A/C refrigerant systems."
