DTC C1243 VES Strg Wheel Sensor CKT Malfunction:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Variable Effort Steering System (VES), incorporates its controller into the EBCM. If any of the steering wheel position sensor circuit wires should become open or shorted, a DTC C1243 will set.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
A malfunction Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is stored. No ABS indicator lamp is turned ON but VES is disabled. ABS remains functional. For diagnosis of DTC C1243, refer to Variable Effort Steering in Steering.
