Check Engine

The CHECK ENGINE (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) Indicator in the Instrument Cluster. The CHECK ENGINE Indicator will illuminate with the Ignition Switch is in the RUN position and the Engine is off. The light will stay on a short time after the engine starts and should go out in 1 to 5 seconds. If the light stays on, or comes on while driving, service to the emission control system may be required. Refer to Engine Controls. The indicator is controlled via a hardwired connection with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the Instrument Cluster.
