Volts
The Volts Indicator is controlled by both the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the Instrument Cluster. The Instrument Cluster illuminates the light when it is initially started up (the Ignition Switch in the OFF/UNLOCK, RUN or CRANK positions) until the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) sends the generator information via serial data, then the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) may light the indicator. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) may light the indicator when the engine is running and the charging system voltage falls below 10 volts or more than 16 volts indicating service is required. During a loss of serial data (the Ignition Switch is in the OFF/UNLOCK position), this indicator will light steady.
