Component and System Description

The major components of this unit are as follows:
^ A Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) is controlled by an electronic solenoid valve for the apply/release. The rate of apply/release is controlled by an electronic Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) solenoid valve.
^ A sprocket drive link assembly.
^ Electronic shift solenoid valves to control shift points.
^ Forward, Manual 2/1 and Reverse band assemblies that do not require selective band apply pins.
^ Input, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th clutches-multiple disc assemblies.
^ A compound planetary gear set.
^ Three one-way clutches: an input sprag, 3rd sprag, and a 2/1 roller clutch.
^ A differential and a final drive assembly with a bolt on the case extension for on-car servicing.
^ A variable vane type oil pump with line pressures controlled by a pressure regulator valve, a reverse boost valve, and a vacuum modulator.
