General Information
The keyless entry system allows the driver to perform the following functions from outside the vehicle by using a hand held radio transmitter:^ Unlock the door locks. The courtesy lights activate automatically when using this function.
^ Lock the door locks.
^ Release the rear compartment lid.
^ Remote alarm. This feature is available only on vehicles equipped with the content theft deterrent (RPO UA6).
The transmitter operates in the UHF band. The transmitter sends digitally coded signals to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) when pressing any of the transmitter buttons.
The RCDLR detects and decodes transmitter signals. For locking, unlocking and remote alarm commands, the RCDLR sends command messages to the Body Control Module (BCM) to operate the following components:
^ The door locks actuators
^ The courtesy lights
^ The remote alarm
For the rear compartment lid release command, the RCDLR sends a direct signal to the rear compartment lid release actuator.
The following components may also be operated in the usual manner:
^ The door locks
^ The lighting
^ The rear compartment lid release systems
For example, the door locks respond to the door lock switches.
The keyless entry system can be programmed with up to 4 keyless entry transmitters.
