Theft Deterrent Arm/Disarm Modes

The theft deterrent arm/disarm modes have the following features:
- Mode 1
- The system arms when you use the keyless entry transmitter in order to lock the doors.
- The system disarms when you use the key or the keyless entry transmitter in order to unlock the doors.
- The system does not arm when you use either of the power door lock switches in order to lock the doors.
- Mode 2
- The system arms when you use the keyless entry transmitter in order to lock the doors.
- The system disarms when you use the keyless entry transmitter in order to unlock the doors.
- The system does not disarm when you use a key in order to unlock the doors.
- Mode 3
- The system arms when you use either power door lock switch or the keyless entry transmitter in order to lock the doors.
- The system disarms when you use the key or the keyless entry transmitter in order to unlock the doors.

Mode 2 provides increased security, but the only way to disarm the system is to press unlock on the keyless entry transmitter. This can cause difficulty if the keyless entry transmitter is damaged or lost, or if the transmitter fails to operate. When the system is armed, the content theft deterrent system's fuel disable feature prevents the engine from starting.

Perform the following procedure to change the feature customization modes:
1. Turn off the IP dimmer switch.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
- The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator.
- The BCM sounds the chime 4 time . This identifies that the BCM type 4 is installed on the vehicle.
5. To change the theft deterrent/shock sensor mode, turn the headlamp switch from the OFF position to the PARK position and back to the OFF position.
- The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator.
- The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the theft deterrent/shock sensor mode. A transition past mode 4 repeats the sequence starting with mode 1.
6. To change the theft deterrent arm/disarm modes mode, insert the key in the door lock cylinder.
7. Rotate the key from the center to unlock position and back to the center position.
- The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator.
- The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the theft deterrent arm/disarm mode. A transition past mode 3 repeats the sequence starting with mode 1.

Complete the following steps in order to exit and save the current feature customization modes:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
2. Reinstall the MALL PGM fuse.
