Standard Column

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraints (SIR). Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
3. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
4. Remove the steering column shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement On Vehicle.
5. Remove the multifunction switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle.





6. Remove the Torx(R) head screw from the windshield wiper switch (2).
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the windshield wiper switch.
8. Remove the windshield wiper switch (2) from the column (6).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the windshield wiper switch (2) to the column (6).
2. Connect the electrical connector to the windshield wiper switch (2).
3. Install the Torx(R) head screw to the windshield wiper switch (2).
Tighten the screw to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
4. Install the multifunction switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle.
5. Install the steering column shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement On Vehicle.
6. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Ensure that the windshield wiper switch (2) functions properly.
