Spark Plug: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield (L67 engine only).
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the spark plugs when the engine is warm.
Clean any dirt or debris from the spark plug base area.
2. Twist the spark plug boots 1/2 turn and remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
3. Remove the spark plugs from the engine.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice In Service Precautions.
1. Install the spark plugs into the engine.
Tighten
Tighten the spark plugs to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
IMPORTANT: Some engines use aluminum heat shields over the spark plug boots on cylinder which have spark plugs close to the exhaust system. Care should be taken to ensure that these shields are placed in the proper locations and fully seated.
2. Install the spark plug wires over the spark plugs.
3. Install the fuel injector sight shield (L67 engine only).
