Increased Effort to Move Manual Front Seat (Install Washer)

2000 Buick LeSabre
2000 Pontiac Bonneville

Condition

Some customers may comment that a high effort is required in order to move the manual front seat assembly forward or rearward.

Correction

This condition may be corrected by installing a 3 mm (0.12 in) thick washer between the outboard rail of the seat adjuster assembly and the rocker panel.

Repair Procedure

1. Adjust the front seat assembly to its full forward position.

2. Remove the rear outboard seat fastener.

3. Loosen the rear inboard seat fastener.

4. Install/slide the 3 mm (0.12 in) washer, P/N 14047726, between the outboard adjuster rail and the rocker panel.

5. Insert the rear outboard fastener through the outboard adjuster rail and reinforcement bracket, the washer and then into the rocker panel.

Tighten

Tighten the outboard fastener to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

Tighten the inboard fastener to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

6. Ensure the forward seat fasteners are not loose.

7. Return the seat assembly to its original position.
