h. Transmission Case Clean and Inspect





1. Clean the transmission case in a suitable solvent. Air dry the transmission case.
2. Inspect the transmission case for the following conditions:
- Damaged threaded holes
- Cracks
- Scratches
- Damaged threads
- Burrs
- Nicked mounting surfaces
- Damaged sealing surfaces
- Damaged front or rear bearing bores
3. Replace a cracked housing.





4. Inspect the countershaft bearing race bore for the following:
- Wear
- Scratches
- Grooves
5. Inspect the machined mating surfaces for flatness. Check the mating surfaces with a straight edge. Use a fine mill file to dress minor scratches or burrs. Replace the transmission case if the countershaft bearing race bore is worn or damaged.
