Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (5.7 L) in Cooling System.
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ECT sensor.
NOTE: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.
5. Remove the ECT sensor.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.
1. Coat the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor threads with sealer P/N 12346004 or the equivalent.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the ECT sensor.
Tighten
Tighten the ECT sensor to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).
3. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
4. Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (5.7 L) in Cooling System.
5. Start the engine and inspect for leaks.
6. Perform the idle learn procedure. Refer to PCM Idle Learn Procedure. PCM Idle Learn Procedure
