Liftgate Hinge Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Raise and suitably support the liftgate (8).
2. Loosen the weatherstrip (1) in order to gain access to the hinge retaining nut.
3. Remove the hinge retaining nut.
4. Remove the 2 bolts which secure the liftgate to the hinge.
5. Remove the hinge from the vehicle.
6. Repeat for the opposite side if needed.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the hinge (1) to the liftgate. Secure the liftgate with 2 bolts. Do NOT fully tighten the bolts.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the retaining nut that secures the hinge to the vehicle.

Tighten the liftgate hinge retaining nut and the liftgate to hinge bolts to 45 Nm (33 lb ft).

3. Press the weatherstrip (1) into place.
4. Lower the liftgate (8).
