Cleaning Procedure

NOTE: Do not place the following components in a solvent or cleaner bath:
^ The Throttle Position (TP) sensor
^ The fuel pressure regulator diaphragm assembly
^ The fuel injector
^ Any other components containing rubber or electrical parts

Do not soak the TBI unit with these components attached. Keep the soaking time in the cleaner to a minimum if the TBI unit requires cleaning. Follow these instructions in order to avoid damage to the TBI unit and component parts.

IMPORTANT: Use only Carbon X (X-55) or an equivalent cold immersion cleaner for soaking the Throttle Body Fuel Injection (TBI) unit assemblies.

^ Soak the metal parts of the TBI assemblies in a cleaner bath if necessary.
^ Remove any dirt or burns from the fuel and air passages in the TBI assemblies.

CAUTION: Refer to Safety Glasses and Compressed Air Caution in Service Precautions.

^ Dry all metal components with compressed air.
^ Clean the passages and the fuel injector chamber with compressed air.
