Ignition Cable: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDUREIMPORTANT: Note the correct routing of the wires prior to removal in order to maintain the correct engine firing order. Incorrect routing to the distributor cap will cause an engine misfire. Incorrect routing or incorrect clearance to engine parts may cause an engine misfire or damage to the wires.
1. Carefully remove the spark plug wires from the wire retainers.
IMPORTANT: Do not pull on the spark plug wire. Internal damage may result.
2. Grasp the spark plug wire boot (2) and twist 1 half turn in each direction in order to release the boot.
3. Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
4. Remove the spark plug and the coil wires from the distributor cap.
5. Remove the coil wire from the ignition coil.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the coil wire to ignition coil.
2. Install the spark plug and the coil wires to the distributor cap.
3. Route the spark plug wires as previously noted and carefully insert them into the secondary wire retainers.
4. Connect the spark plug wires (1) to the spark plugs.
