Band Apply Servo: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure^ Tools Required
- J35534 Piston Cover Depressor
1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the 3 transaxle fluid pan bolts (1).
3. Install the J35534. Tighten the adjustment bolt on the J35534 until you can remove the snap ring from the servo cover (1).
4. Remove the servo cover snap ring (11).
5. After slowly loosening the adjustment bolt, remove the J35534.
6. Remove the following components:
^ The servo cover (10)
^ The servo piston (7)
^ The springs (4,5)
^ The piston rod (1)
7. Inspect the intermediate servo assembly.
Installation Procedure

- J35534 Piston Cover Depressor
- J36850 Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant
Notice: After making sure all parts are clean, liberally apply J36850 to all servo parts prior to assembly. This serves to prelubricate seals and to ensure ease of assembly.
1. Install the following components:
^ The piston rod (1)
^ The springs (4,5)
^ The piston (7)
^ The piston cover
2. Install J35534 and tighten the adjustment bolt in order to install the snap ring on the servo cover (1).
3. Install the servo cover snap ring.
4. Remove the J35534.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the 3 transaxle fluid pan bolts (1).
Tighten the fluid pan bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Refill the transaxle, as necessary. Refer to Transmission Fluid Checking Procedure.
