Front Fender: Service and Repair




Front Fender Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
2. Remove the following components:

* The 2 rear hood seal retainers
* The 2 retainers from the air inlet grille panel

3. Position the following components away. Position the following components aside in order to allow for the removal of the front fender mounting bolt:

* The rear hood seal
* The air inlet grille panel (1)

4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) in General Information.
5. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.





Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

6. Remove the following components from the vehicle:

* 3 retainers (5)
* 6 screws (4, 6)
* The wheelhouse panel (2)

7. Remove the 2 front fender bolts at the door pillar.
8. Remove the inner front fender bolt.
9. Remove the 4 upper front fender bolts (3).
10. Remove the nut that retains the front fender to the front bumper fascia.




11. Remove the bolt that retains the front fender to the front fender brace (2).
12. Slide the front fender (1) from the side slider of the bumper.
13. Remove the front fender (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





Notice: Refer to Anti-Corrosion Materials Notice in Cautions and Notices.

1. Slide the front fender (1) onto the side slider of the bumper. Position the fender (1) on the vehicle. Secure the front fender to the front fender brace (2) with the bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).

2. Install the support nut that retains the front fender to the front bumper fascia.

Tighten the nut to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).




3. Secure the front fender (1) with the following bolts:

* The bolt at the inner front fender
* The 4 bolts (3) at the upper front fender
* The 2 front fender bolts at the door pillar

Tighten the front fender bolts to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).

4. Install the wheelhouse panel (2). Secure the panel with the following components:

* 3 retainers (5)
* 6 screws (4, 6)

5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
6. Lower the vehicle.




7. Secure the air inlet grille panel (1) with the 2 retainers.
8. Secure the rear hood seal with the 2 retainers.
9. Install the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
