35. Oil Pump Clean and Inspect





1. Inspect the following components for excessive wear or for damage:
^ The oil pump outer gear (1)
^ The oil pump inner gear (2)
^ The oil pump cover
^ The oil pump body
^ The pressure relief valve
2. Measure the radial clearance between the oil pump's outer gear and the oil pump body using a feeler gauge. Replace the oil pump's outer gear and/or the oil pump, if the clearance exceeds 0.310 mm (0.0122 inch).





3. Measure the side clearance between the oil pump gears and a straight edge using a feeler gauge. Replace the gears if the clearance exceeds 0.15 mm (0.0059 inch).
