Blower Motor: Service and Repair
BLOWER MOTOR AND FAN REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
2. Disconnect the blower motor and the electrical connectors of the blower-motor resistor.
3. Disconnect the fresh/recirc control cable (3) from the blower case (4).
4. Remove the 3 bolts (1) and the blower case from the vehicle.
5. Disconnect the air hose between the blower motor and the blower case.
6. Remove the 3 screws (1) and the blower motor (3) from the blower case.
7. Remove the blower fan (3) from the motor it necessary.
8. Replace the RECIRC door if the rubber flapper door in the center of the RECIRC door shows any signs of deterioration.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the blower fan (3) to the motor if necessary.
2. Install the blower motor (3) to the blower case. Secure the blower case with 3 screws.
3. Connect the air hose to the blower case and to the blower motor.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the blower case to the vehicle. Secure the blower case with 3 bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the blower case bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
5. Connect the fresh/recirc air control cable (3) to the blower case (4).
6. Connect the electrical connectors to the blower motor and to the blower-motor resistor.
7. Install the PCM.
8. Adjust the fresh/recirc control cable. Refer to Vent Control Cable Adjustment. Vent Control Cable Adjustment
