Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.
3. Remove the bolt and the CKP sensor from the oil pan.




4. Inspect the CKP sensor signal rotor for damaged teeth or for missing teeth through the CKP sensor opening.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Install the CKP sensor to the engine block.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Secure the CKP sensor with the bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the CKP sensor bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
5. Lower the vehicle.
